A + A Cooren is a Franco-Japanese design studio based in Paris, formed by the couple Aki and Arnaud Cooren. The studio designs in the field of lighting, its specialty, but also in the world of product, furniture and interior design since 1999.
Characterized by a sober and poetic design whose roots are clearly Japanese and Nordic, the studio seeks, in each of its projects, to reintegrate subtly nature in the everyday objects, as well as in the interior architecture.
A + A Cooren designs both industrial and artisanal objects, with as a guideline a permanent search for simplicity of implementation for the manufacturer and ease of use for the final recipient. For A + A Cooren, creating a good product requires teamwork in good agreement between the manufacturer / craftsman and the designers, supported by a high requirement in terms of execution.
Their creations are published by Artemide, CFOC, Metalarte, La Redoute, Tronconi, Vertigo Bird, Yamagiwa, ... They designed the showroom of Shiseido Europe in Paris (2002), the Hair Research Center for L'Oreal in St.Ouen (2011) and the redevelopment of the Sèvres - Cité de la Céramique gallery in Paris (2013).
