Michael Anastassiades founded his own design studio in London in 1994. Trained in industrial design and engineering at the Royal College of Art in London and at Imperial College, the Cypriot designer draws fixtures, mirrors and furniture midway between industrial design , sculpture and decorative art. Simple in appearance, and yet meticulously detailed, these creations reflect his training as a civil engineer and industrial draftsman. Michael Anastassiades is particularly known for his lighting, which represents 80% of the work of his studio. He often chooses reflective materials - such as glass and polished bronze - to dematerialize his objects, and give the feeling of floating and being independent of the space around them.

Since his collaboration with studio architecture studio Mumbai (2006), Michael Anastassiades is increasingly getting to work with the world's greatest architects - including David Chipperfield and John Pawson - and interior designers such as studio Ilse. His creations are present in many hotels, restaurants and shops around the world - including the Grand Hotel Stockholm, Soho House in New York and Sergio Rossi boutiques. In addition to being commissioned by private patrons and clients all over the world - Anastassiades works with many world-renowned avant-garde designers and prestigious manufacturers, including Hussein Chalayan, Crystal Palace Swarovski, Lobmeyer and Svenskt Tenn. This year, he will launch two lighting collections for Flos.

In 2007 Michael creates a company under his own name. His restricted vocabulary of forms may suggest that he is minimalist, but his work is very luxurious and sensual because of the quality of the materials used. Michael Anastassiades recently launched his own boutique in London which provides him with an ideal platform to present and launch new products from his collections.
